2025 Bond: First Round of Upgrades Underway This Summer

Posted Date: 03/24/26 (12:19 PM)

This summer marked the start of the first bond-funded projects from the Redmond School District’s 2025 general obligation bonds, sold on June 3rd, 2025

District facility upgrades have been happening across Redmond, including:

• Track resurfacing at Elton Gregory and Obsidian Middle Schools
• New playground asphalt and cabinet replacement at John Tuck Elementary
• A new roof at Vern Patrick Elementary
• New gym bleachers at Obsidian Middle School
• HVAC renovations at Ridgeview High School
• New tracks and artificial turf at both Redmond and Ridgeview High Schools — designed with input from student-athletes and featuring CoolPlay infill, which can reduce surface temperatures by 30–35 degrees while offering long-lasting performance.

All of these projects are on track to be completed on time. They were selected as some of the most accessible improvements to begin in the first summer after the bond passed.

Larger projects, such as Redmond High School’s building renovations and Tumalo Community School’s addition, require a more detailed design and planning process before construction begins. For example, Redmond High’s failing hydronic piping system must be replaced, which also requires asbestos removal. This is a complex, multi-phase process that is currently about 50% through schematic design. While much of this work is happening behind the scenes, it is critical to ensuring safety, quality, and long-term success — and more updates will be shared as planning advances.

Our buildings and facilities are community assets. Maintaining and improving them means safe, functional, and modern spaces for learning, athletics, and community use. These investments benefit students today and for years to come.

We want to thank the Redmond community for passing the bond and continuing to invest in our schools.
