Congratulations to Mandy, a 4th grader in Stacy Davis’s class at Tumalo Community School.

New Smokey Bear billboards aimed at promoting wildfire prevention were designed by Mandy. Her artwork was selected as the winner of the Keep Oregon Green and Oregon Department of Forestry billboard contest.

Contestants were asked to create a unique Smokey Bear billboard promoting wildfire prevention. Mandy’s age group used the slogan, “Only you can prevent wildfires.”

Mandy said she created the design in just one night.

Her artwork is now featured on billboards across Oregon and has been entered into a national competition. One of her billboards can be seen at Butler Market Road and 2nd Street near the railroad tracks in Bend.
